Dear all at Stable Lab and Horse Holiday Farm,
Thank you so much for last weeks' great holiday we spent on the Donegal West Trail. We were blessed to win such a great holiday and we had the most incredible time.
The organization of the holiday was amazing- what a great team of people we met from everyone at the farm to all the B&B hosts- all catering to every possible need.
The two German girls who are with us at the same time literally were ecstatic from start to finish and (despite getting soaked on a few occasions!) we enjoyed every minute too.I’ve never won anything in a draw before but this makes up for it!!
Best holiday ever.
Many thanks again,
Sue O'Doherty & Ray Doyle

Hello you all horse lovers! Enjoy our 7-day Donegal South Trail (25.7.-1.8.) condensed in about
10-minute video. Thank you Horse Holiday Farm for the lovely holiday on horseback, and say hi to Shanlara and Cassidy!

Hi Colette
Just returned from 4 days at your place. Didn't think an improvement on 2016 was possible. Got that one wrong.
Country amazing, horses fabulous (Ultan is a star in the making), but it's the people at HHF that make it. Many thanks for the special memories. Until the next time........
Steward Derby

Hello Colette,
yes, I survided Boa Island! Actually, it was a very nice day with sunshine and together with my girl-friend everything looked so much better!
I don´t know if you watch the videos on your facebook-site, but Daniel from Suisse made a wonderful video in slow-motion  of our last riding day on the island! He´s a professionell photograph and it´s really well done and a great memory for me. If you haven´t seen it so far-enjoy it!
I´m planning to come this year again in October, but latest next May! I´ll let you know in time.
Thanks for everything again! It´s always a wonderful and very special time at your place with all the nice people and amazing horses!
With best wishes

Dear Tilman and everybody at the farm,
Monique and I wanted to thank you for a perfect holiday and trail. Everything was positive, the weather, beautiful trail, originasation, friendly people, B&B and of course the very nice horses. Shanlana and Rafter have given us a perfect vacation! Thanks! I send you some pictures...
Kind regards
Monique and Nicole

Hi Colette -
I met you last weekend when we were at the farm after finishing our week of the Donegal south ride.  We had a fabulous time and have recommended the trip to all our horse riding friends.  You have an incredible operation there - efficient, friendly, and informative.
I have a question I meant to ask before I left :
Can you tell me how many km we rode on the Donegal South trip?  I'd love to know!
thanks again,
Patty key

Hi everyone from the Horse Holiday Farm,
no we are at home again.
But we often think about the nice time we had with the lovely horses Rebell, Kildalton and Doonbeg at your farm.
For me it was even better than the first time I was at the farm 20 years ago and Alina and Monika were fascinated, too.
Thanks a lot to the great team  Atti, Scott, Jerry and Karin who organised everything so well.
And give our regards to our host Thomas ("The man with the best name").
Best wishes
Ingrid, Alina, Monika and Thomas

Hi Colette
Just a quick e-mail to say have had a fab holiday
Atty Jerry Scotty and Karen were brilliant and went out of there way to help us get the most out of our riding hols. The horses were awesome - I rode Harvey and my friend Sandra rode Ryan and we had such an amazing time with them. They love to gallop and so did we!!
Please can you pass on our many thanks to everyone and we will definitely be back
Best wishes

Hi Collete
We have just returned from our 4day riding by the sea holiday at the horse holiday farm and I would like to thank you for the amazing time we have had.
Atti, Jerry and Scottie were fantastic, always friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they really helped in making our holiday such a great success.
Our horses,Ryan and Harvey, were wonderful very well suited to our riding ability which Atti sorted perfectly and we had some brilliant gallops along the beaches. It was lovely to ride such fit and well cared for horses and they certainly gave us a great amount of pleasure.
Karen was also very helpful and friendly although we actually stayed at the B&B with Thomas Wimbs which was very good.
You have certainly given us a holiday to remember and I must commend you on such a professional holiday farm.
We will certainly be back again and please pass on our thanks to all your wonderful staff.
Best wishes from two very satisfied clients

Dear Colette,
We just wanted to thank you for the great holiday we had last week. Aty and Jerry did a really nice job and the horses Brandon and Rafter were doing great. We hope that we will have the possibility to do the Donegan trail in the near future. Please pass on our regards to Jerry and Aty (and to the horses, of course).
Kind regards,
Egbert & Liselotte

Dear Colette, dear Tilman,
thank you for the great trail (Yeats ;)) and the wonderful experiences we had with your even more wonderful horses.
We wish you all the best for you and all the members on two and four legs of your horse-holiday-farm.
Please send some special greetings to Cassidy, Bobby and Sider.
Affectionate regards,
Claudia, Noemi and Clara

I just wanted to write to thank you for a wonderful experience at Horse Holiday Farm. My mother, sister, and I visited last month for the Yeats Trail ride, and we had an amazing time! We were very impressed by your farm and your hospitality, as well as the overall beauty of Ireland and the kindness of everyone whom we met. I do have what may be an odd request.......I fell in love with the horse I rode, Paddy, and I was wondering if he were ever to be for sale, or even in need of a retirement home, if you could contact me. He is a great little horse, and I hope he is able to provide joy to many more riders like me, but if he is ever unable to continue to be a part of your program, I would be happy to give him a loving home. Thanks for your consideration of my request, and again thank you for such an amazing holiday. I hope to be able to visit again someday!
Sincerely, Amy Bodycott

Dear Colette,
it's not more then already three weeks ago, that we left your farm.
We just wanted to let you know, that we have had a wonderful and amazing time at the Donegal Trail South and at your farm.
We found everybody so friendly and easy going.
On our trip we were bid welcome very kind at every hostel. The only stay we wouldn't recomment was the Moorland Guesthouse, as the people weren't really friendly when we arrived there after a ride with 3 hours of rain.
But we loved the stay at Mrs Mary Martin, Bayside and Mrs. Mary Leonard, Pettigo. It was lovely food for breakfast and boths super endearing families.
And of course we enjoyed the beautiful landscape though the only one rainy day. We already miss Ireland and our horses, Greystone and Finbar. And we are hoping to come back soon.
Until then have a good time and take care.
Thank you for an unforgettable time.
Rebecca and Jana

Lieber Tilmann, liebe Colette,

Greeting from a Happy Rider
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the riding holidays from your farm. I was able to connect with another single rider through your handy meeting page so we enjoyed the 4-day Donegal South Trail together. I am glad you have the first day riding near your farm as I was not entirely pleased with my first mount but got along well with the second one provided to me. The trail itself was well –marked and provided a nice variety of terrain from high ridges, along green fields and dense forests to the beach and back up into the mountains. I enjoyed the places we stayed at night and was always made to feel welcomed and well-fed before we left in the mornings. I also wanted to say the Gerry Mc did a good job of making sure our needs were met in your absence to attend the W.E.G. I look forward to returning for another horse holiday with you!

Dear Colette
I just came back from Irland and wanted to let you know that everything was absolutely perfect and very well organized! I could ride Shanlara and I simply love this horse! I wish I could come several times the year...
Thomek gave the right horses to Claudia (Barnes) and her girls (Traveller and Lemond). They felt very safe and just loved them.
Karen gave nice rooms to us for our last night at your place and Gerry and Atti have been looking after us very well!
The trail was wonderful. We had fine weather, spectacular views, a wonderful beach and lovely bed and breakfasts. The Cavengarden House was an experience and Mary Martin and her husband of Bayside are the most friendly and warm people I´ve ever met. They were unique hosts! Please say thank you to them again if you meet them next time.
Hope you had a great time in Normandie like us at your wonderful place!
I´m sure, we´ll meet us next year!
With best wishes
Silvia Eggers

We are already looking into the Donegal West next year😊

May 2014! This week was awesome! Cavalier and Kildalton are great! I love and miss Cavalier and hopefully I can get him next year again. Thank you so much for this great experience. I've took lots of stunning pictures so I can keep my memories for ever!

Hello Colette and Tilman,
we just want to thank you for the wonderful vacation we had in Ireland. We enjoyed the Yeats trail very much. Large diversity in landscape and vegetation. Horses were very fit and worked well!
Hope to be back sometime.
Good luck the rest of the season!
Best regards Gunn Hulleberg

Dear Collette,
I just write to tell you we are well back in Oslo, Norway with a very strong feeling that we will see you soon again. For both Irene and I, this vacation in your territory have been extraordinary! Not only do you have a very nice place with stables, personel, accomodations, scenery... but the horses we got are so good, trafficsure, forward going, I dont have a good enough vocabulary to describe it all in english. On top of this, the weather wasn`t bad either!! Say specialy hello and thanks for a nice stay to Tillman and Atti from us! Your the best:-)!! We have shared pictures and videos among our friends on Facebook!
Kind regards

Hi Colette and Tilman
Hope you are all well and managing to keep warm and dry.
We thought you would like to know that following a request in a recent edition of Horse & Hound for favourite riding holiday photographs we submitted one from our last visit to you in September of Alan on Douglas riding along the beach back to the farm.   To our surprise it is now on the H & H website under "Riding holidays of a lifetime: in pictures" (number 3 of 16).   Lynda is now thinking of coming out of retirement and becoming a professional photographer!!
Have attached photo and look forward to seeing you again next year.
Very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Lynda and Alan

Very Good

What I enjoyed:

Everything was more than I expected; this trip was the perfect combination of both relaxation and adventure.

What bothered me:

In the beginning I had trouble coordinating my first night stay (because I scheduled and early flight and train ride to Sligo) and needed to be at the horse farm on the very next morning, but the staff at "Hidden Trails" booked an extra night for me (complimentary)at the delightful B&B next to the horse stables. I received a warm welcome upon my arrival.

Expectations fulfilled:

Yes,I rode a young "greenbroke" horse and enjoyed working with him (I have been riding most of my life and was well suited for this high spirited colt), my fellow riders were pleased with their mounts also.

Final Comments:

I have only one complaint, my trip ended!

Dear Colette, dear Tilman,
I hope you had such a magnificent holiday like I had at your place!
What a pity that we couldn´t get to know each other this time, but I´m sure I´ll be back next year.
Atti gave me one of your wonderful horses-Shanlara:-* :-* :-* !
I´ve never been in Ireland before and fell instantly in love with your lovely place, the great horses, the landscape and the Irish people.
Everybody was so kind and helpful.
Gerry, Atti, Daniel and Karen did a very good job and the bed and breakfast at Thomas´ place was very nice.
Thank you very much for the perfect organisation to you and the whole team!!!
If I can realize it next year, I would like to come for the Donegal South Trail for 4 days at the end of may (29.5.-1.6.) If it´s possible I would like to ride Shanlara again. Maybe you can keep that already in your mind?
Also I do need your help: I met a nice Norwegian girl at your place. She rode the Donegal South trail with two other Norwegian girls. Her name is Linda, but unfortunately I lost her contact in my handy. Maybe you can help me with her surname or an email-contact?
All the best for you and best wishes

Dear Colette and Tilmann.
Just wanted to tell you that we had an absolutely fantastic holiday at youre farm and at the trail. The scenary were breathtaking and all the people we met along the way were so friendly. The horses were perfect and so was the b and b we stayed at. We are sorry that we missed you, but Gerry
and the rest of the crew took good care of us. Hope to visit you again some day, maby next year.::
Best regards from the tree Norwegian girls Marie, Linda and Anniken.

Dear Colette
I hope you have nice holidays in America.
We had a very nice stay at the farm and everything was perfect as ever.
Just a shame you were not there.
See you probably in Spring

Hi Tilman and Colette,

We hope this email finds you well. With a slight delay, we just wanted to drop you a little line to say a huge thanks for accommodating us on the Sligo Trail earlier this summer, which we enjoyed so much. We were lucky enough to have Ormond, Traveller and Cranny who are three wonderful horses. We have been spreading the word about the trails and also hope to return next summer for the Donegal Trail. We thought you might enjoy a little snapshot of our travels along the way so I attach a collection of our images from the 4 days. Best wishes from us all and hopefully we will see you (and our trusty steeds!) again next year.

The Roisins (Russell and Ryan) and Rena

Dear Colette,
we enjoyed our journey to Ireland very much. Although Anna became bad, we had a good trip with “Traveller” and “Guiness”. Thank you for helping us, when Anna was sick and thanks to Tilman for picking her up. We recommended and we will further recommend Your farm to our friends.

Greetings from Salzburg Egon and Anna

Dear HHF team, i
t has been a great vacation riding on these superb itineraries . All paths were perfectly traced, no risks and good balance of riding-resting time . Finding a red-carpet on top of the mountains, in form of wooden pavement, was a big surprise ! It was really worth the trip from Milano . We wish you and your very patient horses to have a good rest at the end of the busy season .

ciao Claudio, Roberto,Nino,Paolo,Alessandro,Roberto bis Milan, Italy
PS : a hoof pick remained in my pocket, a sign we'd come back ...

One week on the Horse Holiday Farm feels like a month of normal vacation. The location is ideal to get away from everyday business, doing what you really enjoy in life:
Spending all day outside on horseback together with people that share that passion. And the crew in the house and at the stable do a fantastic job to make your stay unforgettable! Thank you so much for that experience. I will be back for sure!

An jeder Kreuzung hingen Pfeile. Toll!
Liebe Grüße an alle
Claudia und Susanne Rosengoth.

I fell in love with Celtic, he is a real nice one.

Dear All
I’ve now been back in London for a little over two weeks and the memory of galloping across the sands on ‘Glider’ is still fresh in my mind, and getting me through the long days back in the Office.

Thank you so much for providing me with a truly memorable break, your home is so special and the horses are truly remarkable.  My photo’s of ‘Glider’ are taking prime place as my computer screen saver!  I will certainly return soon.

Thank you again for allowing me to ride your magnificent horse and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Ireland (despite the rain J).

All the best,
Dawn Jeffers
(4 days by the Sea – Aug 2011)

Dear Colette, dear Tilman,
Marie and I left on Friday quite early, but I did not want to miss the  chance to thank you for a wonderful holiday.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at your place and the trust you've  given us.
We did the Sligo/ Yeats Trail and though we got lost a couple of  times, we enjoyed every minute of the trail. Sorry again, for not  calling back Tilman.
I was quite impressed when I saw Davis for the first time, but  galloping with him along the beach was the most amazing thing I ever  experienced. He's awesome and a reliable partner, I was really happy
that I was able to do the trail on his back.
Marie and I also decided to come back next year.
Thanks again for everything,
P.S. If you guys ever think of selling Davis, please give me a call  first.

Dear Colette,
Thank you and Tilman so much for a wonderful horseriding experience. I enjoyed travelling on Sir Henry's back and Boudewijn learned a lot about horses. He totally fell in love with Ben and we are both having a hard time not beeing around horses all day. The trail was wonderful and so was the bed & breakfast experience.
While I was unpacking my stuff at home I noticed that I forgot to give you the key to the forest back (we were picked up and dropped off at the busstation, so we did not return to the farm). I will send it to you as soon as possible.
And again, thank you so much! We will definitely be back one day!
Lizzy Gray

Dear Colette and Tilman,
My friends and I had the pleasure of doing the Donegal West Trail last week and we had a great time.
I wanted to thank you for the warm welcome and for providing such excellent and fun horses. You gave us the possibility to enjoy Donegal as it should be enjoyed: on horseback. We felt very welcome at all the B&B's, met such nice people and enjoyed the beautiful Irish landscape.
I wish you all the best and I hope to see you again in the future, perhaps for another trail!
Kind regards,
p.s. please send regards to Artie and Jerry - they made us feel totally at home with jokes and great assistance.

Liebe Colette, lieber Tilman,
Ich bin vom Termin her völlig frei. Geht da was?

I want to thank you for the excellent experience my friend Joe Steele and I had riding earlier this month.  As a relatively novice rider, I was a little concerned at being able to handle Diamond after the first introduction to his desire to gallop anywhere near the beach.  I just didn't know if I was up to it!  Donal and Tillman were both reassuring and helpful, and I have to say that first gallop on the beach on the way back to the Farm was amazing.  I was so pleased to stay in the saddle!  Riding the Yeats trail was a delight.  Joe and I were astonished that the horses could handle so many different kinds of terrain.  While there is a fair bit of clippity-clopping along the roads, one never minds watching the country side pass by, and the highlights along the beaches, cliffs, and through the forests, are just amazing, and well-worth the walk to get to them.  Our accommodations were always comfortable and our hosts delightful.  Dympna Rooney was a special joy to stay with, and were were glad that our change of plans took us to her home.  I wanted to improve my riding and learn on this trip.  I resume my regular lessons later this week, and I guess I will see what kind of difference it has made in the ring.  But I already know that my confidence and ability have grown exponentially after five days of riding Diamond.
My friend Joe said he thought that our trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  I know what he meant, but we may prove him wrong, since we have already started talking about a return! Thanks for everything!

Donegal Trail West 13 - 20 June 10
Hi Jackie,Tilman and Colette,
Thank you so much for a wonderful exciting experience on the Donnegal West Horse Trail Ride, myself, my niece Ashleigh and her friend Maxine had a fantastic time.
I must apolagise for the lack of experience that Maxine had horse riding, I was not aware of it untill we arrived,as I told the girls a year ago if they wanted to do the trail ride with me,they would have to have lessons and learn how to control a horse, walk, trot, canter and gallop, and be able to tack, bridle and saddle the horse.Which I new Ashsleigh had done, she had lessons.I was led to believe Maxine had done the same, but she did'nt tell me till we arrived that she had'nt followed through on lessons. So I apolagise,as I know the risks envolved with horse riding and I was extremely upset with her for putting us and you in that position.
Thanks to you Tilman for choosing the  beautiful gentle Cormack Maxine coped very well on the ride,Ashleigh had Garryfin and I had Duffy !
Duffy was an experience,he has the funniest, quirky sense of humour,he knows one speed flat out,but I found him to be a very enjoyable ride, once we got to know each other, after the first hour I thaught what have I got myself into,he was very flighty and excited with the other horses,so I thaught he wants to go fast I'll let him go and gave him full rein and let him go,I knew that I had to let him know he could'nt put it over me and once he knew that he was fine.
I rode him very loose rein,we worked well together,he's very responsive to commands.Apart from him trying to bite and kick me whilst brushing and saddling him,I learnt to be very quick.I could'nt help but laugh at his antics,he would do his stretches after saddling up ready for the ride,I've never seen a horse do a cat stretch like he does, and he loved to roll after his days ride...I took two large stones out of his front foot which he had a habit of lodging large stones in his front hooves in the paddocks,he was very greatful when I removed them for him.....
He kept us very amused throughout the ride,I learnt to tie him up better after he untied himself at the pub,I had Asheigh watch him whilst I got my drink,as I knew how cheeky he was....
I must say I did fall in love with him and miss him very much,he is very intelligent and I could'nt believe it when I saw him demand to have his food in a different stall,he tapped on the stable door demanding attention and the gentleman who drove the truck said,oh its because there was abit of water left in the feed bin,he wont eat it,so he put him were the horses are shod (shoed) and he happily ate his food....WOW my horse I owned named Pardon was very smart but Duffy he is amazing, and I would have loved to have spent more time with him.....
Duffy's antics
He pulled out a plant in the garden near the food mart.
I'm not 100% sure ,but it may of been him who got the lid off the feed bin. He pulled the big water barrel over closer to him at Dry Arch B&B,so funny he thaught I was'nt looking, then when he knew I was looking he'd stop, then try again...
Over the mountains and Boggs he was hilarious going over the bridges, treading so carefully, one bridge he got half way accross and it started to sink,he was like I'm not going any further, but with a little reasurance he was fine and continued accross, then he would'nt walk through the little gully,he decided he would jump it from standing still position....
Duffy was great to open some of the gates ,I was impressed..
At the first B&B he spilt the water everywhere.
Cormack and Garryfin, had to keep trotting up every now and then, because they could'nt keep up with  Duffy,he walks flat out,I enjoyed the pace he went.
Duffy even learnt when I'd say to the left, car coming he would move to the left and off the road.
When ever I got out my camera or the map Duffy thaught he could put it over me and try eat or trot, thinking I was distracted,it was so funny,He soon learnt he was'nt able to eat when he wanted to....
He did love his apple I gave him at the end of the day !!!!
Duffy had the smoothest stride,I loved his trot and he cantered beautifully,I usually don't enjoy galloping ,but he was very smooth,I love a  controlled canter and he was fantastic and a sitting trot !
The Trail was great, the B&B's and owners were lovely, fabulous food and very welcoming...
I think we only missed two of those YELLOW ARROWS,which only meant we went a longer way around,so no drama...
I would definately recommend to friends and family.....
It was the highlight of my trip,I think it is a great opportunity for people to ride in such picturess country,it was beautiful accross the mountains and to the sea...
Thanks again to you and your very helpful staff for helping show us how to put the saddle bags on ,as I had never used saddle bags before.
The breakfast at the farm was sensational ,best scrambled eggs and accomodation was very comfortable....
The horses are gorgeous, absolutely huge!!!!  my horse i owned was only 14hands,so wow could't get over how big they are and gentle nature....
 Regards Debbi

Dear Tilman, Dear Colette,
Dear everybody on Horse-Holiday farm
We have returned back from our wonderful holiday in Ireland. The time at your farm and the wonderful riding made this holiday to the best und most unforgettable of our life. Even only my wife went riding, I loved it as well. Everything was so beautiful, relaxed, and your team and the wonderful horses made it to an unforgettable experience. Joe Jo is such a lovely, nice horse and Karin loved him so much. It was very hard to say good-by after one week. Karin was really moved to tears when the last riding day was over.
We hope that when we come back next year Joe Jo will still be there.
Horse Holiday farm is the most wonderful place for riding. The landscape scenery is incredible. The organization is perfect and we felt your warm welcome and atmosphere from the beginning on.
We took a horseshoe of Joe Jo as a memory and it will get an exclusive place in our house.
And one thing is fixed as well, I got so enthusiastic about this great riding place that I start now practice riding as well. So next time I will not longer be “passive”.
Thank you so much for everything and for great memories, and we come back next year!
This is a must!
Lovely greetings from Austria
Karin & Martin Hochleitner

Hi Jackie,
Just a quick one to say a huge thanks for another fabulous weekend on the farm. We were so lucky with the weather, it was absolutely glorious! Karin looked after us so well up at the house and it was so lovely to see Colette and Tilman again. And thanks so much for requesting Butler for me - he was an absolute gem!
My two friends from the UK loved it as well and are mad keen to come back, so looks like it's worked its usual magic!
Please pass on my thanks to everyone; I'm looking forward to next year already!
Take care,
Bronwyn Boyle

Guten Morgen Colette,

Dear Colette and Tilman,
Apologies for taking so long to send this, things took over once I got home and time doesn't seem to be my own sometimes!!
Once again we had a wonderful time 'riding by the sea' and thank you both very much for everything. Please pass on our thanks to Karen and Eino, they were both good fun and very helpful.
Thankfully we left in plenty of time last Monday as we took the 'straight' road to the airport instead of bearing left at Sligo!! So, the journey took a little longer than we anticipated - still we won't make the mistake again!
Enjoy your week away in the sunshine and hope the Winter goes well for you.
See you next year!
Kind regards and thanks again.
Sue, Mandy, Dave and Fred xx
PS - Fred would be pleased to lead rides if you need him at all next year!
He had a great time as 'leader'!!

We had a wonderful two days here at the farm – impressively organised and the weather cooperated. Next was the Donegal West side – moors, forests, bogs and roads. Clean welcoming b & b’s at the end of the day. Highlight! several gallops on the beach at Portnoo with the waves and the wind and good old Paddy and Chieftan carrying us over the wet sand – just like the black stallion. Many thanks.

Thanks for a great adventure, yet again. We have been here for the fourth time and it was marvellous again. This time we did the 4 Day Yeats Trail and we had great horses Cormack and Cruizer, good food, mixed weather and a fantastic ride along the beach, lanes and forests of Sligo.
We’ll surely come back again.
All the best

Thank you so much for this special week, for the warm welcome and the wonderful experience with the horses (and Ben in particular!).
I hope to be back as a better horse-rider to enjoy it even more.!

Dear Colette and Tillman,
Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our horse holiday. I feel ten years younger and have stopped using my mounting block! Please give Siliveroe and Guinness a hug for us. We miss those long rides and pub stops and hope to come back before the joints get too stiff. The last picture is Taugh - (He and I are on the right having done a short ride in the field - no sand, seals, boulders, or white stallions guarding mares. Too tame! )
All the best,

Dear Jackie, Tilman, Colette, Karin, Tomack, Natasha, and all,
Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience. Everything about the week was terrific fun, and Celtic is a terrific horse. I hope to come again within a year or two, when I hope to try the cross country course.
Until then, Linda Van Buskirk

Our hearts are breaking! We can’t believe it’s over already. We have had such an amazing time; great riding made better by great people! Karin has been a star, as have Ino and Tomek even though we were hungover all day Wednesday! Thank you Tilman and Colette for having us. Don’t let anyone else ride Sir Henry or Gweebarra – they are ours!

Miss you all!

This is the most wonderful place to ride a horse. We galloped along endless, empty beaches. Cantered along grassy tracks and fields, rode along cliff tops and trotted down typical Irish lanes passing gorgeous little cottages. The space to ride in is second to none. The scenery all around is to die for. There is even an island you can gallop too when the tide is out. We took a picnic with us that day and we can truly say it was one of the best days of our lives.
Tilman has over 90 horses and gave us two big, fit Irish Hunters. If you are a good rider he has horses which will dance on the beach, excited about the gallop to come.
For the less experienced he has quieter mounts but all the horses enjoyed a gallop and most importantly all seem to know when to stop at the end !
All the horses were well mannered and nothing seemed to worry them. They were the most perfect hacking out horses.
What we did love at the farm was that we got to look after our horses for the length of the holiday. In the morning (after a wonderful Irish breakfast) we went down to the field to bring our horses to the stables. After feeding them and grooming, we then got to tack them up ourselves. It would be a great help to have a bit of knowledge on tacking up before you go but there are always staff on hand to show you the ropes. After riding all day we washed the horses down, fed them and put them out for the night. We fell in love with our beautiful horses and found it hard to leave them at the end of the holiday.
Another aspect we enjoyed was the fact you can stop at the local pubs, tie your horse up and order lunch and (in our case) pints of Guinness!
The farm also has a Cross Country course and although we are not the most fantastic jockeys over jumps we did have a go at the smaller ones which was brilliant.
We can not recommend this place highly enough. You are allowed to go off alone, responsible for yourself and your mount. The sense of freedom and adventure is incredible.
We have been on many riding holiday over the years but can honestly say this is the best. The horses, the hospitality, the beaches and the scenery make this place totally unique!

Lieber Tilmann!

But it’s time to leave now.
Thank you all for a really wonderful time here in Ireland! We enjoyed the Donegal Trail West and our time on the farm very much. Duglas and Emerald are great horses and we had a lot of fun with them. We’ll never forget this holiday!

Dear Colette & Tilman,
I would like to thanks you for having provided us wonderful horses during our 4 days Yeats trail.
Beside the capricious weather, everything was perfect. My two colleagues and I really enjoyed this trip, especially the highlight: gallop on the beach!!
I think that you have created a perfect horseback riding experience for anybody.
Please keep the good work.
Best regards from Switzerland,

We had a unique experience. On the horses in a quiet beautiful landscape, Copperking and Cranny, are horses you can rely on. They sometimes know the route much better.
We will recommend this to everyone!

Dear Colette and Tilman
Doing the Yeats trail was a dream come true. It was such a great experience to ride the trail independently, which gave us a great sense of freedom and adventure. We were amazed how well Tilman was able to match us up with the right horses. My friend Eva got Glider, an energetic leading and super fast horse. I got Traveller, a very steady relaxed, forward horse, enjoying a lively gallop too, but no crazy racing.
We loved all the warm welcomes we got in the B & Bs and are especially impressed about the organisation of Colette and Tilman’s business. Please continue this farm as long as possible
so that we can come back and do the other trails.

PS We liked the Trail (Yeats) a lot. It was a bit of an adventure to go by the map and arrows and thinking about where to go made it even more exciting!

Aus dem
Reitforum 2006

Alex Krycek
